🐾 Meet Lewi!

Age: Approximately 2 years old

Breed: Mixed

Rescue Status: In rescue since April 2023

Health: Neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative

Weight: Around 55 lbs

Lewi was found on the streets as a puppy, suffering from a severe case of Demodex. He required intensive vet care for several weeks before being released into rescue. Despite his tough start, he has blossomed into a playful and affectionate dog.

Lewi enjoys playing with other dogs at daycare and has made many rescue friends. He does best with dogs Beagle-sized and up, including Labs and German Shepherds. He is typically placed in smaller groups of 4 dogs or fewer to avoid overstimulation.

He can be protective of his toys, though he is not aggressive—he simply prefers to keep them to himself. He has been cat tested and passed, but he hasn’t had much experience with cats, so another test may be needed.

Lewi is nervous around new people but not aggressive—he just needs time to warm up. Once comfortable, he is incredibly affectionate and loves being held, hugged, and kissed. He rides well in the car and does well at the vet—cooperative for exams, baths, and nail trims. He loves balls, toys, pools, and treats—and when he’s happy, he has the sweetest wiggle butt! He is highly food and toy-motivated—he has even completed a basic training program, where he excelled!
